Walking with Old People, and the "Picture Police"

I walked in the Mall (Southcenter) this morning because it was raining hard when I left home. The first time in years, ever since the "picture police" pulled up in their pick up and told me "don't do that". I was out in their parking lot taking a photo of a puddle. Yep, a puddle in their black top parking lot, but with this very nice blue sky and white clouds reflection happening. My kind of photo :) A young guy read me the rules. Nothing to do with 9-11 by the way. I told him I probably have hundreds of photos I took over the previous years INSIDE the mall...everything from bald mannequins to reflections of reflections in display windows. I said look at this...the photo I just took. "That's nice", seeing the sky shot in a puddle. Then I showed him a few shots still on my memory card from the day before...the Green River, with the bridge down by the Tukwila Community Ctr, and a sunrise... "That's beautiful." But I still had to cease and desist. I put my little camera (at that time) in my pocket and resumed my walk. Sigh...

creative energy

I'm in a good place right now...reminds me of my time on Lopez (Island). Because I lived alone that second stay there, and I worked with power tools for blocking out my wooden boxes, I tried to limit that work to my mornings, when I was more alert, etc. A nice memory is that I was enjoying that creative period so much that I had to train myself to fall asleep at night. My meditations and mindfulness helped. Sometimes, it was like the only reason I got into bed was to get the rest my body and mind needed so that I could get back up and start working again... I need to edit these photos. I will do so later. I remember that I traded the box I made for a friend of mine who worked at a photo processing lab. In return for the photos, I made her a box with little boxes inside to showcase her charm bracelet collection pieces.

"Before" pictures of our backyard jungle, a work in progress, starting today...

view from our back bedroom...

view looking back at our house from the backyard upper level

 - this morning, before I started, much of the area left of the iris plants was water
- a new little island is evolving there now, and I will fill in the area this side of the iris plants
- I plan to paint the little bridge a bright red, ala Japanese

- you can't even see the waterfall behind the small tree...

...without pushing aside the vine leaves

I'm excited! This is going to be fun I think, and it might even be cool to look at and enjoy when it's completed...
